Canadian Retire — Support

A retirement income planner for Canadian households

Where is my information stored?

Only on your device. The app doesn’t connect to the internet to do its work and we never receive what you enter. See the privacy policy.

How do I back up my plan or move it to another device?

Scroll to the bottom of the planner page and tap Save to file. Choose where to send it — Files, AirDrop or email. On the other device, tap Load from file and pick that file.

How do I start over?

Tap Reset to defaults at the bottom of the planner page to return the entries to their starting values. Deleting the app removes everything it stored.

Which tax year and rules does it use?

The 2026 federal and provincial or territorial tax rules. They change every year, so the app is updated annually. It is a simplified model: it doesn’t calculate tax on interest, dividends or capital gains (income from stocks and cash is treated as tax-free), and it doesn’t model Quebec’s own provincial credits.

Is this financial or tax advice?

No. Canadian Retire is an educational tool that produces estimates. Please speak with a qualified professional before making retirement decisions.

I think a calculation is wrong

Please write to jimmy@askjimmy.ca and tell us your province, roughly what you entered, and what you expected to see. You don’t need to send any personal details.
